Yelp Reviews

  •   TEN STARS!!!  Robert was fantastic!!  I originally had a nighttime bus tour booked for my Fiancé and I, but when I stumbled on Robert's Trip Advisor reviews (he is #2!!!) I was convinced.  And BOY DID I SCORE SOME POINTS with my future husband!

I called Robert on the phone and he instantly picked up.  He was friendly, informative, and thorough.  We booked him and right after he sent a text with all of the info so I didn't have to write anything down.  I asked him several questions via text and he was instantly responsive.

We met at our designated spot. We were early.  And so was he.  Bonus points!  He was friendly and ready to go!  Our tour was AMAZING!  He is SOOOOO knowledgeable all while managing the Pedicab safely and smoothly.  We loved all the stops, time alone, and cool pictures he showed us.  His tour path was perfect.  He took many pics of us, waited when we took more time, and was so nice.

Seeing all the HUGE bus tours with people yelling and umbrellas just made me appreciate Robert more.  He is SO worth it.  You have got to do it.

Thank you for making our first night in DC incredible, Robert!

P.S. after our tour...he told us to text him if we had any questions about the city.  WHO DOES THAT??  He got his $$...and yet he was still willing to help.  A true gentleman.

We had a great pedicab tour this late afternoon with Barry. He picked us up at the International Sy Museum and took us around to all the monuments. Because it was freezing cold, he wrapped us up in a warm blanket and used a plastic "bubble" to guard us from the elements. He was very interesting and kept the subject light for the benefit of the kids. I highly recommend.

Had the best time with these guys.. My mother has mobility issues, needs a wheelchair to get around...this was prefect in every way to enjoy the sights in DC in comfort, on our own time and terms and to top it off these guys are passionate about what they do-Not only are they knowledgeable about the places and sites you'll come across but they also know how to run a business, Emails, texts and phone calls answered in a timely manner as well.

They will also give a lot of insider tips on places to eat at and other sites to visit on your own...all valuable info that can make your trip even more enjoyable and memorable..

Top it off, they are really nice guys-
    Cant recommend them enough...

P.S. we were so engaged in our tours that we failed to get some good pictures of us in the pedi-cabs...but here is one with Alex and you can see my moms wheelchair .They were so helpful with loading and un-loading and making sure my mom was safe.

We took the night monuments tour and then again in the day..If it hadn't been so cold we would have taken a Georgetown tour as well..

I called Nonpartisan Pedicab for my mom & son to do a pedicab tour of the National Mall and all of its sights.

Robert made it really easy to book the tour - I called him as I was heading into the National Archives and my mom and kid were ready to tour the National Mall and see monuments and memorials instead.

He quoted the price (to which I agreed) and gave me a 20 minute ETA.  Robert showed up at the meeting spot right on time and away they rolled.

The original request was a 1 hour pedal overview, which turned into a 2.5 hour, on/off, fully guided tour of the National Mall.

    The verdict?  THEY LOVED IT!

From their feedback, Robert was super nice, very knowledgeable and provided a wonderful tour.

    5 stars - thanks Robert!

We took the Monuments and Memorials tour and loved it.  It was one of the highlights of our trip.  Robert and Tom were both excellent - friendly, professional, and extremely knowledgeable.  Robert even brought along some historical photos!  We learned a lot about everything we saw, and it made visiting the monuments far more meaningful than if we had seen them on our own.  The tour also allowed us to see more than we ever could have on foot with our family group, which included my mom and our 2 kids.  I think a pedicab tour is one of the best ways to see DC, and you can't get a better tour than Robert's.  Highly recommended!

I moved to the area about a year ago and had been out walking around the National Mall many times. I wanted to do a bit different of a tour as a belated Valentine's surprise for my boyfriend - but the catch was, I wanted to bring our dogs along. We own a Chihuahua who is a Medical Alert Service Dog and only 3.5 lbs., but we also own a 120 lb.+ Bullmastiff, who was the main concern for tagging along. Barry was extremely open to the idea of both dogs coming, and ensured me that it would be no problem at all. He even customized the tour to my liking so that we could view the Fire Dog Monument and walk the FDR Memorial at sunset. This day could not have gone any better. We got exceptional sunset photos of our whole "family" thanks to Barry, learned so much new information about the city and never once felt rushed. This is hands-down the best tour in D.C. and I will be telling all of my visiting friends that this is the must-do way to view D.C

  •   After spending a week in meetings, and feeling dreary as it had rained nonstop since I arrived, I had a serious case of cabin fever in Washington DC. A friend of mine found Robert online and booked us a pedicab tour. I am so thankful she did. Robert is extremely knowledgeable, he was very friendly, and made our afternoon an absolute joy.  He had great stories and was able to answer all of our questions.  I was especially touched when we saw an Honor Flight group at the Navy Memorial and he made a point of thanking the Veterans for their service.  Our tour was the perfect way to wrap up long, long week.

My workmate and I decided on a pedicab tour after a long two day workshop in Arlington. Alex was available that night and was flexible on time which is why we chose a pedicab vs a trolley or bus tour. We were so glad we did! We got a much more personal tour than we would have on a bus. Alex knows so much about the history of DC and we could go at our own pace. He even had a blanket for us to use, and dropped us off at a highly recommended restaurant at the end of our tour. We had such a great tour of the monuments at night, and gained a greater appreciation for some of the less known monuments that we may have skipped otherwise.

      Moonlight Tour of the Monuments

We headed back to DC for the 35th anniversary of the dedication of the Vietnam War Memorial. My husband, a vet, had never seen it and was going to be reading names. We wanted a chance to visit the monuments and experience the VWM ahead of time, and bus tours are not our thing. Actually, tours are not our thing either, but we wanted to go at night, get around to all the monuments and not hike miles in the November chill. I got online and did a quick search and decided a pedicab would be an easy, intimate, stress free way to see the mall and the monuments by night.

Email communications were quick and easy. I contacted them via their website on Sunday evening and made arrangements in a few hours for a Monday evening tour, to begin at a central DC location to be determined by us early Monday evening when we decided where we would be dining. Monday evening when we settled on a steakhouse for dinner I texted Barry where we would be. It was a little bit drizzly that evening, and he offered that we could try later in the week if we preferred, but it was pretty mild and the report indicated that the weather might get clearer, but it was also getting colder so we choose to stay with our reservation despite the damp. As we were finishing up dessert and paying the tab he pedaled up to the restaurant to collect us. Barry was pulling out clear cab wraps to protect us from the weather, but we decided it wasn't bad enough to warrant that and took the offered lap robe and deferred having the walls.

We commenced what was to become a 3 hour tour of all the sights of the Mall and the Monuments and many of the beautiful buildings that surround the center of our Federal government, including the Capitol, the White House and the Treasury. We even saw Kennedy's Eternal Flame across the river in Arlington, and the Lee home glowing on top of the hill.

It was just beautiful. Calm and peaceful, we avoided the large bus crowds and sat warm and relaxed in our little covered cab while Barry shared his knowledge of the Capitol Mall and surroundings, historical and contemporary. I'll share a secret, I have a degree in history, and know a great deal of the history of our capitol city and not once did he make any claims that I knew to be false, or overly embellished, and anything he offered that was a bit questionable in its' actual historical accuracy he prefaced as such, and then told the story in such an amusing way you didn't really care how true it was ; -) We had such a delightful evening and so enjoyed our time with Barry! He made the evening a really special moment in time, one we will always treasure.

He dropped us at the Vietnam War Memorial last, after we had visited and strolled thru all the others, and I thanked him and told him we might be a while at the final stop and he was free to go, we would catch a Lyft from Constitution Avenue nearby. We were there quite a while as we soaked up the experience and let the iconic memorial work its' emotional catharsis.

When we emerged from the garden there was Barry, sitting in his cab waiting for us. He wanted to be sure we got off home alright and weren't left standing in the rain waiting without cover for a ride so late in the evening.

Kinda can't recommend him, and Nonpartisan, highly enough. Smart and well informed and personable, and able to chat whilst pedaling hell bent for leather up the grades surrounding the Mall, Barry was everything you could hope for in someone to guide you thru the experience.

And the pedicab is the perfect vehicle to use, moving at just the right pace to allow you to really absorb what you are seeing and hearing, without the distraction and annoyance of a loudspeaker blaring factoids as you sit on a crowded bus and climb on and off with the crowd at each stop.

An excellent value, and a way to make a really wonderful memory, take the night tour, you will not regret it! And tell Barry I said hi!

On our first ever trip to D.C., we brought my handicapped parents. When considering monument tour options, we decided to use Nonpartisan Pedicabs. Our cabs arrived on time to pick us up, and were very easy for my parents to climb aboard. Our guides were friendly and very accommodating, letting us "ride by" some memorials and stop to enter/view others. They were ready with blankets and the cabs had clear wind proof sides so we could see everything. Barry and Steph were the highlight of our trip!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS A MORE PERSONAL FEELING TOUR!!!

On my first visit to Washington, we decided to take a tour by Robert Hart. Robert was very professional, knowledgable, he had an idea of all the landmarks and the history behind it like a true guide. He customized our requests and understood what we wanted out of the tour. He went above and beyond explaining about all the events that happen in Washington DC. This was my first guided tour in the US and personally I have seen a lot of guides in other countries. I can tell you from my experience he was great at his job! Robert Hart - (703-231-9882). We went on a not so crowded week so we found it easy to get a guide, make sure you call once before looking for a tour guide.

      Five stars for this tour!

By way of introduction, my mom and I hail from the west coast and this trip was to be our First Ever Epic Mother-Daughter Bondathon in Our Nation's Capital (cue reverberating monster truck rally announcer voice). Naturally, we put a great deal of planning into our family-time travel extravaganza, departing California armed with an itinerary listing an intimidating number of must-see attractions. Sadly, we lost the initial sight seeing battle to an unexpected foot injury which rendered me lame as a Florida lawn flamingo's shadow in silhouette. Fortunately, we emerged victorious after stumbling (figuratively this time) across Nonpartisan Pedicab during an online search.

Our secret weapon was Robert, a One-Man-Malitia of Mental and Muscle Endurance, who served double duty as tour guide extraordinaire and transportation guru. Robert delivered his tour narrative (an engaging combination of humorous/informative anecdotal, historical, political, and architectural details) in a conversational manner that never came across as disingenuous in the way that overly rehearsed narratives are sometimes wont to do.

Robert went above and beyond by also inviting us to observe specific city views in order to compare them to historic photographs that depicted mirror images taken from across the ages. For us, these photo comparison opportunities served to poignantly underscore the way that the story of America's past is both hidden within, and integrated into, the patchwork of DC's ever evolving landscape. Where applicable, Robert also invited us to view depictions of original or alternate design proposals for some of the city's most beloved and iconic monuments and buildings (the Jefferson Memorial). These design comparisons provided us with an equally intriguing window into the world of what might have been.

Robert remained a patient and affable guide throughout the tour, despite (or in spite of) the sweltering 95 degree heat. In true American spirit, we were given the liberty to set our own tour agenda that, armed with our trusty itinerary, we tailored in accordance with our desired pace and priorities. Robert proved a willing vacation photographer and we thank him for contributing his compositions to our family photo alblum (cloud file?). I suppose it would be poor review etiquette if I failed to note that, as personal guided tours in popular destination cities go, Nonpartisan Pedicab is a reasonably priced option that is particularly well suited to the needs of limited mobility tourists.

    **As an, admittedly partisan, side-note:
Pedicab tours are one of the few enviornmentally friendly methods of sight seeing. l heartily recommend them as an effective means of mitigating the weight of any latent air-travel emissions guilt baggage you may be lugging around the Capital, or anywhere you travel.
**As an, arguably non-partisan, side-note: Nonpartisan Pedicab is a small business and Robert is clearly a dedicated and hard working small business owner. We should all be supporting small business in local communities as recognition regarding the value of that support appears, based my limited experience, to be one of the few remaining issues that even the partisan are happily made party to. Cheers Robert, thank you for helping me overcome the limitations of my inner flamingo and for helping this (not) walking mother-daughter disaster team to check all of DC's best and brightest off our bucket lists.

Awesome awesome,  Alex was amazing. ...
Showed me all around the area I needed to see with so many details and keep it all very exciting all along the time limit I had.
This is an experience that is worth the money for every penny.
I am not sure was is by purpose or not but we even ran into president's car "the beast" and the secret service scorting him, man that was cool.
They know DC inside and out.
Try them you won't regret it.

  •   BEST TOUR IN DC!!!  A little pricey, but WORTH EVERY  PENNY! There were 3 of us ladies including my Mom who  was using a walker.  We were concerned about the walking she would have to do from tour bus stops to get up to the monuments.  So, based on yelp reviews, we decided to splurge on a pedicab.  BEST decision of our trip.  We were hesitant when he pulled up because it was a very tight squeeze but it wasn't long between stops so that worked out fine.  He popped Mom's walker up on the pedicab and off we went.  He took it off and on at every stop! We were concerned for Robert when we went uphill and offered for a couple of us to get out and walk but Robert wouldn't have it!   Not only did he save us SOOO much walking by getting right up to the entrance of each stop,  he told us so much more than the big tours.  I have a picture of him holding up the back of a ten dollar bill In front of the US Treasury on the bill.  He pulled out pictures of many of the monuments under construction or of the buildings they were designed after.  So much extra information!  We took the trolley tour later to get to different stops to visit them and no one gave as good a tour of the monuments as Robert.  Can not recommend this highly enough!  Robert, the Mom, daughter and daughter in law from Texas say EXCELLENT JOB!

What a fantastic time we had with Alex. He was incredibly knowledgeable and gave us more history than we could ever have gotten by visiting the monuments by ourselves. It was a beautiful ride and Alex was incredibly accommodating. Worth every penny. Don't hesitate to book this tour!

Take this tour! My wife and I were in Washington DC and decided to give the Nonpartisian Pedicab a try. We had a BLAST! Robert was very knowledgeable and had many insights about the numerous sights in DC. The pace was perfect. He would stop and tell us the history of the places we were seeing without rushing by like you would on a bus. Plus the fact it was only the two of us on the tour, made for a very personalized experience. We even had some rain. Once again, Robert was ready. He pulled up the canopy and gave us a nice warm blanket and we were warm and dry.
It was undoubtedly the highlight of our trip.
    Enjoy,

From start to finish, Robert was a gem.  I traveled to DC with my two elderly parents, who have mobility issues, so pedi-cab was a logical choice for them to see the monuments and sights of DC.  Robert called and texted a confirmation.  At the last minute, we had an addition to our group.  He arranged a second pedi-cab for us with two-days notice.  It looked like rain, and I was worried but these seasoned tour guides were prepared with canopies and covers, so we didn't miss out.  Alex and Robert were knowledgeable and professional. There were some route closures because of Memorial Day festivities, so the tour ran a little long.  Robert and Alex both said there would be no additional charge!  If you want a wonderful, up-close tour book with the Nonpartisan Pedicab!  Excellent service from start to finish.  Thanks Robert and Alex, you made our visit feel special and personalized.  I'll recommend you to everyone.

I brought my grandmother for her first trip to the US earlier the month, we were staying in NYC but she had long-desired visiting Washington DC and so we booked a hotel there for one night. Being that she is of limited mobility and uses a wheelchair, we searched online for accessible tours of the city and came across Nonpartisan Pedicab, which possesses perhaps the best set of online customer reviews I have ever witnessed.

Our first commendation goes to Robert himself -- he is simply an amazing tour guide. He picked us up at 10am from our hotel (which was slightly out of the city centre) and made no issue of us being a few minutes late. We were made to feel instantly at ease with Robert, who attached my grandmothers wheelchair to his pedicab, who is an extremely affable individual and told us a bit about himself and took interest in us, before beginning the trip to the various monuments in DC.

We were particularly struck by Robert's historical knowledge of the city, and ability to answer our questions on the sights in front of us as well as more general questions about the American political system. He brought a number of images of the sights we saw at various stages in their history, and the information we received about the city in years gone by surely exceeded that one would receive from an open-top tour bus or group cycle tour. We could pose our own individual questions, and take diversions en route as they suited us. Robert was more than happy to accommodate.

Most striking, however, was the personal touches Robert gave to make sure my grandmother was comfortable. She did not get out of the pedicab and into the wheelchair at every stop; and when she didn't Robert ensured she was in shade on an otherwise very hot day, whilst I went and took pictures for her. At one point, he noticed her arm was burning in the sun and gave her some sunscreen he had packed with him.

The tour was thoroughly enjoyable, extremely comfortable and remarkably informative and is the standout memory of our 10-day trip to the US.

I cannot commend this man's services highly enough.

Robert is absolutely the best! We rented his services for 1/2 a day and he made the trip absolutely fabulous for us! He is EXTREMELY knowledgeable, professional, prompt, kind, and flexible. He was especially easy to work with for my 90 year old mother that had balance problems, getting in and out of the pedicab. He was also easy to hear for my hearing impairment. He has lots of information in his pedicab about the city and he made our customized tour EXACTLY what I wanted it to be! With my mother's limitations, we could not have done this trip without him and we would not have had the fun that we had! He is a generous, kind soul.

We had a GREAT time with Robert! The transportation was just the tip of the iceberg. On top of being informative about the sights we were driving through, he gave us a TON of particulars about where to go and what to do in DC. review rating 5  My friend and I visited our nations Capitol in early April. I am disabled, and use a wheelchair to get around for any distance. I had researched how to sightsee in DC for the disabled, and somewhere Nonpartisan pedicab popped up. I had not even thought of this as an option until I looked at his website and read the reviews posted there. After then looking at several other options, I returned and sent Robert (owner) an email. He called me right away and assured me he would be able to meet our needs. How right he was! He picked us up at the historic Wilbur hotel and spent the next six hours showing us his city. He was very knowledgable and personable and energetic. His supplemental information about all things DC gave us insight that you don't get in the history books. We were able to go at our own pace and I forgot I was handicapped for a while. It would be safe to say, his tour was the highlight of our trip. It was perfect for our first day and gave us a lay of the land. Very worth the cost and I would recommend anyone that wants a personal and fun history lesson and tour to book with Robert. So impressed!!

review rating 5  I arranged with Robert for two Pedicabs from Non Partisan Pedicab which met us right on time in front of our hotel. We toured for 5 hours and saw all the major monuments and then some. Both drivers were really good at explaining the history and background of the city. Most importantly, they were extremely helpful with one of our passengers who doesn't walk around so well. In spite of the handicap. they went out of their way to make it easy, to show us the elevators and bring us in close so we could see all the sites. It was spectacular. I highly recommend and will do this again.

review rating 5  I recommend nonpartisan pedicab without reservation. Back home I've been telling everyone about it. They got my family of five, three children ages 6, 9, and 10 to all of the major monuments in just about three hours. We had plenty of time to walk around each, and the kids never complained. Robert and his partner were very knowledgable about each monument and had time to discuss each on the approach. They also made great suggestions for what to do in the following days. What a great tour, thanks guys.

  • review rating 5  My workmate and I decided on a pedicab tour after a long two day workshop in Arlington. We were so glad we chose a pedicab vs a trolley or bus tour! We got a much more personal tour than we would have on a bus. Alex knows so much about the history of DC and we could go at our own pace. He even had a blanket for us to use, and dropped us off at a highly recommended restaurant at the end of our tour. We had such a great tour of the monuments at night, and gained a greater appreciation for some of the less known monuments that we may have skipped otherwise.

review rating 5  After several weeks of having to reschedule( due to scheduling issues on our train ride...Robert was very kind and patient with our delays)we finally arrived in DC and were able to take his tour of the major monuments and The White House. I had read the various reviews and knew Robert was the best in town. I wanted to take this tour so my daughter could gain some historical knowledge of DC other than from a schoolbook. Robert did not disappoint. His knowledge was extensive and he was quick to answer my various questions about whatever I saw along the route that sparked my curiosity. He provided us with "insider info" about the various buildings and landmarks in DC unprompted as well. His keen intelligence could be seen in his blue eyes. He struck me as a nice easygoing person from the start and when he took the time to convince my daughter to walk up to the Lincoln memorial by showing her a penny and a five dollar bill I knew he was clever as well. I walked away satisfied that in a very short period of time I had seen the sights worthy of the expense of a private pedicab tour. I enjoyed our time in DC with Robert and will recommend Nonpartisan Pedicab Tours to anyone going to DC. Worth every penny!Schedule yours today!

These are the words of my nephew: My expectations were low, but Robert took those expectations, threw those expectations around the world where they landed in the Pacific Ocean, and than detonated a nuke in the middle of the ocean, where my expectations went beyond physics and broke through the universes barrier, traveling faster than the speed of light. In my words, the tour was phenomenal!!

review rating 5  Robert rocks! His tour was by far the best DC experience of our vacation! Robert’s tour was fun, accommodating, and he is very knowledgeable of all the memorials, monuments, the White House, museums, and other DC federal buildings we toured. There were 3 of us adults on our tour with Robert, along with my sister’s wheelchair. He took care of everything! I loved that we could get on and off the tour at any point of interest we wanted. Robert even helped my mom look up a friend’s father who died overseas in WW11 in a database at the memorial that I didn’t even know existed. My mother is 88 and would have not been able to walk and see and do all that we accomplished with Robert. Neither my sister or mom had been to DC before and were beyond thrilled to see it all up close and personal! I appreciate more than words can express Robert’s kindness shown to us and his enthusiasm for his job and the history and knowledge he shared with us!

On a whim, while in the Houston airport waiting for our flight , I thought it would would be nice to take a night time tour that evening after dinner. Looked at possibilities on Trip Advisor called Nonpartisan Pedicab. They were most accommodating. Actually picked us up at the Resturant and dropped us at our hotel after a perfect 3 hour tour. Our guide Robert was unbelievably knowledgeable and my grandson loved him. It was truly the highlight of our trip.
