They were extremely flexible with our pick up location and we even shifted it the day of, I was able to text our guide, Read, to update him. We had two younger kids with us and it was comfy with one kid on a lap and one in the middle, and so so much fun. Read is a seasoned biker, guide, historian and resident and knew everything we asked him. He kept us on time and let us know about bathroom stops along the way. We went in the evening of the height of Cherry Blossom blooms and peak spring break traffic and he navigated the crowds so well, and we had plenty of time at each of the monuments, and a really fun wheeeeee downhill toward the end of the tour. My son was in heaven and kept saying how awesome it was and how lucky he felt. Read even took us back to our Metro station at the end. Would 100% do it again and recommend to anyone, mobility issues, young kids, or just a treat that gets you away from busy traffic and lets you glide under the trees. We already discussed coming back in the fall to see things in a different way. Gold stars all around.

April 8, 2019RPh12345My 91 year old mom was visiting me and had never been to DC. I texted with Robert, who suggested a very convenient pick-up spot. We had a 3... read more hour tour with Fahad. All I told him at the start was she has never been to DC and to please show whatever major monuments you can cover in 3 hours. We had lunch booked at noon.
Fahad’s tour was FANTASTIC. He was so knowledgeable, fun and considerate. It made such a difference being able to bike through some of the monuments and bike up very close to others where we could do a short walk to see the monument and view. He pointed out places with bathrooms and elevators along the way. He would even leave the seat up for us so that the seat didn’t get hot when we got back to the pedicab. Fahad pointed out the symbolism behind the design of the monuments and gave interesting mini-history lessons along the way.
This tour absolutely exceeded our expectations! We highly recommend this tour, especially for someone who cannot walk much. You will not regret booking a tour with nonpartisan pedicabs.
September 18, 2022Elizabeth19481955Overweight customers beware, make back up plans just in case your driver isn’t comfortable with the weight even if you planned ahead and provided your weight. Don’t be disappointed like... read more we were.
I wish the circumstances were different. I did extensive research and found some amazing favorable reviews for Nonpartisan Pedicab as the best for handicap and mobility issued folks to get around DC for great tours. I made the reservation with Robert a month before the scheduled trip. I made sure to let him know that we were “customers of size” and the driver would need to be comfortable hauling 2 persons with a combined weight of 600lbs plus 1 walker. He stated that would be no issue but would make note of it so the driver was aware. All aspects of the reservation and confirmation process were amazing. Robert was super communicative and very well informed.
We arrived at Federal Triangle metro station 30 mins prior to our agreed upon time for a twilight tour. Driver Bob came on time. As my 70 year old mobility challenged overweight mom was about to get on the pedicab, Bob immediately stated that this would not work. The weight was too much for him.
I called Robert and informed him and he stated that had never happened before but he’d try and find another driver. The closest driver who would be comfortable with the weight was 40 mins away. It was 55° with 8MPH winds and my 70 year old mother was not comfortable waiting for that long.
We got back on the metro line to head back to Arlington. As soon as we got on the line and was at the next stop, Robert called back saying someone was 5 minutes away. At that point my mother was too disappointed, on the subway, and just ready to get out of the cold.
I’m not sure what else we could have done differently. I was open about the weight, expressed the concern about being overweight and mobility challenged and Robert was confident and the reviews were fantastic. Looks like Bob just wasn’t feeling it. Thank goodness I didn’t pay anything upfront or provide card information.
The unfortunate thing is it was my 70 year old mothers first and only trip to DC and we were only here for 24 hours. The last part of our trip was this twilight pedicab tour. I wish Bob would have been vocal about not being comfortable about the weight and drive well during the day or even when I confirmed the trip 6 hours before that way I could have made other arrangements for a tour.

Throughout the tour, he was personable, professional, conversational, and full of great DC monument/building stories and trivia. But most importantly, he was a comfortable and peaceful person which was contagious for my mom and me on what could have been a stressful day (she was in DC for a medical appointment). He put us at ease and we escaped stress during our time with him, comfortably and quietly strolling along the beauty of the basin. Robert suggested an early tour to beat crowds. He suggested 8am, we went with 9am. If I did it over I would go earlier as it did start getting busier towards the noon hour. And mornings on the basin are just fabulous.
Our tour took us by a number of buildings, Congress, and all the monuments. Our night tour took us back to the pools and monuments, and added the White House, but a bit quicker since we had already stopped and talked about each in the morning. Robert was very flexible with how much time we spent at each place and encouraged me to leave my mom with him, safely, while I ventured to the top of the Lincoln at night.
The pedicab is comfortable for two unless you are tiny people. Robert is smaller but so strong - he pulled us around and had energy left. We are not small women. He was masked the entire time and we felt very safe in all manners. Communication setting up the tour was excellent and he was highly flexible with the tentativeness of our night tour. Payment was easy as he takes cash, Venmo, PayPal, and I think credit cards. The tour was significantly higher than a bus tour but the personalization, quietness, un-rushed experience, and relaxation of the stroll was 100% worth it. I tipped him 20% and felt he earned every bit of it.
Robert owns his pedicab and is a sole proprietor. I would highly recommend him. He has an embassy row tour that we will do next time we are in town. The experience was so fabulous, I’d do it again.

The highlight of our trip was going to be the Nonpartisan Pedicab tour.
