Washington DC Twilight Tour

Should We Go See the Memorials at Twilight?

Oh, it’s very definitely worth it.  All the memorials are lit up spectacularly after dark. Even if you have visited the memorials by day, they have a whole different feel after dark. A Washington DC Twilight Tour is a highlight of any visitor’s experience.

It sucks.  Believe me, I have done it.  They don’t stop at all the monuments.  On several monuments, they just slow down a bit as they drive by with everyone leaning over each other to capture a quick photo.

Which Memorials Should We See on Our Washington DC Twilight Tour?

There are 8 major memorials plus the White House to see on the Twilight Tour.  We stop at each one, where you will have an opportunity to get out and take pictures and walk up inside the memorial for a better look.

  • Lincoln Memorial
  • Jefferson Memorial
  • Washington Monument
  • MLK Memorial
  • FDR Memorial
  • Korean War Memorial
  • Vietnam War Memorial
  • WWII Memorial
  • White House

You can also get out and visit the Einstein Memorial, which is always the favorite with kids (because they can climb on it). You will also see many other interesting things along the way — we give you a detailed history as we go. Some guests also choose to continue down Pennsylvania Avenue to the US Capitol before being dropped off at the downtown destination of their choice.

How Long Does a Washington DC Twilight Tour Take?

Most guests take 2-4 hours to visit all the memorials.  The exact tour length depends on how much time you take while visiting each one.  Three hours is about average.  Two hours is feasible if you are brief and only make a few stops.  Four hours would be making extended stops at each memorial. You don’t need to decide the tour length in advance.  We just go at your own pace.
