Jefferson Memorial Opening Hours

Jefferson Memorial Opening Hours

The Jefferson Memorial is open 24 hours a day to the public every day of the year.  In this sense, the Jefferson Memorial opening hours are the same as at those of every other memorial.

Fees at the Jefferson Memorial

The Jefferson Memorial is always free to the visiting public.

Restrooms at the Jefferson Memorial

There are restroom facilities underneath the Jefferson Memorial.  You do not need to climb stairs in order to access the restroom.  Underneath the memorial, there is also a National Park Service information booth and an elevator to the inner chamber.

Food Availability at the Jefferson Memorial

There is a food kiosk outside of the Jefferson Memorial right on East Basin Drive SW.   Hot dogs, coke, french fries, and other fast foods are available here.

Handicapped Facilities at the Jefferson Memorial

On East Basin Drive SW, there are several handicapped parking spaces.  Underneath the Jefferson Memorial, there is an elevator that can bring you to the inner chamber.  At the National Park Service information booth under the memorial, wheelchairs are available for free usage on a first come, first serve basis

National Park Service Rangers Walking Tours

Rangers are on duty to answer questions from 9:30 A.M. to 11:30 P.M. daily and to provide interpretive programs every hour on the hour from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.

Tours to the Jefferson Memorial

One of the best ways to see the Jefferson Memorial is to visit it as part of a tour of the monuments.  Nonpartisan Pedicab offers tours that take approximately 2-3 hours.  Many guests say that this is the highlight of their trip to Washington DC.

Parking at the Jefferson Memorial

Unless you have handicapped stickers, you have to park at some distance.  There are three parking lots next to the Potomac River — Parking Lots A, B, and C.  Except during the Cherry Blossom Festival, it is easy to park there, although you still have to walk to the memorial.

On-street parking on the National Mall is no longer free of charge.  Three hour parking is available at $2 per hour.  Parking meters only accept credit cards.
