About Pedicabs

Questions and answers about Pedicabs.

Are pedicabs a good way to see the National Mall and the monuments?

Pedicabs are the best way to see everything. You go at your own pace, with a permanent 360 degree view and your personal guide. Pedicabs can get in close to venues that buses simply can’t. Safe, convenient and comfortable – they are the best way to see the mall, museums and monuments.

Are you licensed? Are you insured?

Yes. We are licensed by the National Park Service. To obtain this license, we must prove $1,000,000 worth of insurance.

Can elderly or handicapped passengers be able to get in and out of a pedicab easily?

Yes. It is easier to get in and out of the pedicab than in and out of a car. The pedicab comes equipped with a step and a handrail. We can get right up to the curb to make for a shorter step. We frequently accommodate a fold-up wheelchair along with two passengers. Wheelchairs are also frequently available at the visitor centers at each of the large monuments.

Can I get a ride at the last minute?

You can always call or text 703 231 9882 for a ride or a tour. If I am available, I will come to pick you up immediately. If I am not available, I can often dispatch another rider to go and pick you up. For tours, you can reserve in advance, either on this website or by telephone.

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes. Mastercard, Visa, Amex, Discover. I carry a hand-held device called the Square which I use to swipe your credit card. For a tour booking, I may require a $15 deposit. If done over the phone, this may require you to give me your credit card information so I can enter it manually. Otherwise, you can make this deposit via Paypal.

Do you do night tours?

A twilight tour of the monuments is a highlight of many people’s trip to Washington. Unlike the bus and Segway night tours, a pedicab tour can include a stop at every monument. And take you to your favorite restaurant afterwards.

Do you take baby strollers?

Yes. We do this all the time. You fold the stroller and lay it by your feet.

Does the pedicab have a canopy to ward off the rain/sun?

Yes.

How many people can you carry in one pedicab?

Roomy for 2 normal sized adults with one or two small children. Two large adults or 3 thin adults can ride comfortably. Four adults should take two pedicabs. We commonly take two adults with two children plus a stroller.

What happens if I (the customer) am running late?

Please call/text me at 703 231 9882 and let me know. If you are unable to contact me (i.e. riding the Metro), I will wait 15 minutes for you before I leave. In general, you must pay me starting from the agreed upon meeting time unless you have let me know in advance.

What happens if I (the pedicab driver) am running late?

This has never happened yet. However, I cannot always control for the traffic or road closures. I will call/text you to let you know.

What is your cancellation policy?

Up to 24 hours in advance, your deposit will be fully refunded. Up to 2 hours in advance, you can change your reservation to another available time slot. If it is actually raining at the time of your reservation, you can reschedule or receive a full refund. If weather.com is showing 90% chance of rain during your time slot, I reserve the right to go home early. In that case, I can either give you a full refund or reschedule you for another time.

Where do you take people?

Everywhere. Downtown Washington, National Mall (including museums and monuments), Chinatown, Georgetown, DuPont Circle, Union Station, hotels and restaurants throughout the city.
